Ireland’s Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport has announced over €1.4 million (£1.2m) of funding for Irish artists who are touring internationally.

The funding from the Culture Ireland Regular Grants Programme covers artists working in a range of areas, including music, circus, dance, film, literature, theatre and visual arts.

More than 100 international tours featuring over 187 Irish arts projects will benefit from the funding, with grants ranging from under €500 to as much as €100,000.

The supported artists are undertaking tours across 41 countries, from the UK to Australia.

Culture Minister Patrick O’Donovan said: “Culture Ireland is central to supporting and promoting Irish arts internationally.

“The increased demand for funding from Culture Ireland reflects the deep interest people around the world have in Ireland’s creative potential.

“I am delighted to announce that I am allocating over €1.4 million in funding to Culture Ireland to ensure that Irish artists continue to showcase their work around the world.”
