Need to know: Jet2 confirms smooth summer operations amid positive fuel supply news
- Jet2 has issued a major update confirming normal summer operations after securing stable fuel supplies. The news will be welcomed by many who had concerns after reports of a possible ‘jet fuel shortage’.
- The airline has reassured passengers there will be no extra charges on booked flights or holidays despite rising fuel costs. Jet2 was among the first UK carriers to make this commitment to customers.
- CEO Steve Heapy said: “We are in regular dialogue with our fuel suppliers, and the current picture is one of increased production and imports, meaning we continue to look ahead with confidence.”
- The airline has reaffirmed its customer-first approach, promising flexibility and swift refunds for any cancellations. This follows widespread praise for Jet2’s efficient refund process during the Covid pandemic.
- Heapy added: “Our message to holidaymakers is that summer is on.” He described it as “a fantastic time to get that well-deserved holiday locked in.”
- The positive news comes after Jet2 was recognised as Europe’s second most fuel-efficient airline in Cirium’s global emissions study. The airline achieved 57.9 grams of CO2 per Available Seat Kilometre.
- Jet2 recorded a 3.1% reduction in emissions intensity compared to the previous year, demonstrating ongoing environmental improvements.
