The NI capital made the list of the ‘Best of the Best’ destinations for travelling this year.
Belfast has been named one of the top ten sustainable destinations in the world for travel in 2024.
On Tuesday, Tripadvisor announced its first Travellers’ Choice Awards for 2024: Best of the Best Destinations.
With four in five people in the UK planning a holiday this year, these are the most sought-after destinations for the year, according to the travel platform’s reviewers.
Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Destinations span seven categories for 2024, including the new category for Sustainable Destinations.
With 74% of travellers concerned about the impact of ‘overtourism’ on destinations, Tripadvisor partnered with global AB InBev brand Corona to launch this new, recognising winners from around the world deemed to have strong commitments to sustainability.
Europe is leading the way when it comes to environmentally responsible cities with eight out of the ten winning cities hailing from there.
Belfast was the only city in the UK to feature on the list, coming behind the likes of Copenhagen, Brussels and Galway.
