RW Cruises Genting Dream Melaka

Resorts World Cruises’ Genting Dream will use the historic port of Melaka as the gateway to Kuala Lumpur for its 2 Night Cruises departing from Singapore on Sundays, starting November 10, 2024. As ‘the cruise line that knows Asia best’, passengers will enjoy a new and enhanced experience with dual visits to the city of Melaka and the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. With port stay time extended from 10 to 12 hours, passengers on the Kuala Lumpur excursions will have ample time to explore Melaka before boarding the ship.

Genting Dream will anchor close to Melaka city, offering stunning views of the surrounding beaches and landscape. Disembarking passengers can enjoy a unique short tender boat ride up the Melaka River to the modern Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS Complex). From there, it is a pleasant short 15-minute walk to the heart of Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring the red colonial buildings of the Dutch Square and the famous Jonker Street, known for its excellent shopping, dining and entertainment. Passengers can also choose to take the Melaka river boats next to the ICQS Complex to see the historic port city with buildings influenced by the Portuguese, Dutch and English era, mural artworks, parks and colourful shops on both sides of the riverbank.

Passengers have the option to embark on Mondays every fortnight from Melaka via the ICQS Complex. They can combine a Melaka vacation with the One-Way 3 Night Melaka-Singapore Penang Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang) Cruise.

“Resorts World Cruises is delighted to add Melaka as one of our latest destinations and homeports, which will further contribute towards the success of the state’s ‘Visit Melaka 2024’ campaign and the development of the cruise tourism sector in Melaka. With a total of 52 calls a year, the Genting Dream will bring up to 200,000 passengers to Melaka annually,” said Michael Goh, President of Resorts World Cruises.

“The Melaka state government is pleased to welcome the collaboration with Resorts World Cruises through its cruise ship, Genting Dream, which has chosen Melaka as its new destination. With an average of 200,000 passengers per year, this will contribute to the increase in tourist numbers during Visit Melaka 2024, thus boosting the economic growth of Melaka. I hope that, with this new attraction, Melaka will become the top-of-mind and preferred tourist destination,” said Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, the Chief Minister of Melaka.

The city of Melaka continues to gain international exposure as one of Malaysia’s leading tourist destinations. The recent appointment of Chinese actress Fan Bingbing as the ‘Visit Melaka Year 2024’ ambassador has garnered wide international interest from both Chinese and global tourists. Now, passengers can choose the comfort of cruising to Melaka from Singapore, instead of taking a road trip.

Melaka offers a vibrant kaleidoscope of cultures and rich heritage; including ancient landmarks, historical buildings, family attractions, and mouth-watering cuisines. Enjoy Melaka’s unique and popular delicacies at well-known local eateries, such as the famous chicken rice ball, durian cendol, local cakes, pineapple tarts, traditional snacks and more. Visitors can also explore iconic sights, including the remains of the A’Famosa Fort, St Paul Church, the Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum, Cheng Ho Cultural Museum and the 15th-century historic water well built for the Ming Princess Hang Li Poh.

From Melaka, inbound cruise passengers can also travel to Kuala Lumpur, located a few hours away. Kuala Lumpur is a melting pot of cultures, offering a mix of modern and old architecture, untouched nature, rich traditions, popular cuisine and street food. Visit Kuala Lumpur’s iconic skyscrapers, including the world’s tallest twin towers – KLCC; the world-class experiential lifestyle destination TRX Exchange; the ancient Batu Caves featuring a beautiful Hindu temple; or shop at the famous Central Market – a hub for Malaysian culture, arts and craft. No visit to Kuala Lumpur is complete without tasting the city’s street food, which reflects its multi-ethnic population.

The Genting Dream offers a variety of exciting inclusions as part of the cruise fare and package, including complimentary dining, featuring a wide spread of international and Asian cuisine. As the World’s First OIC/SMIIC* Standard Halal-Friendly Cruise Ship, Muslim passengers will have access to certified Halal food and beverages at a dedicated section at The Lido restaurant, which also provides vegetarian and Jain cuisine. Prayer rooms are available on the ship for the convenience of Muslim guests. Other exciting inclusions for passengers include international stage performances at the impressive 1,000-seat capacity Zodiac theatre, a water park at sea with a pool and 6 waterslides, rope courses and zip lines, a rock-climbing wall with more recreational activities for the entire family, spas, duty-free shopping, and much more.
