Intrepid Travel is now offering a 12-day women-only trip to Saudi Arabia, designed to support women-owned businesses and empower women travelers.

The 12-Day Saudi Arabia Women’s Expedition will be led by female guides and will be available to book by women only. Women-only tours are increasing in popularity as more travel solo but still desire social experiences.

The trip supports nine women-owned and operated businesses, including a boutique hotel, a local citrus farm and more. The trip also includes several visits to women’s homes and women-only spaces, introducing a new side to the dynamic country.

“This new trip has been a year in the making, as we challenged ourselves to create a trip in Saudi in line with our values that would be a genuine force for good,” said Jenny Gray, product manager for Women’s Expeditions at Intrepid Travel. Women’s Expeditions launched in 2018.

“With tourism to Saudi focused on vast ultra-luxury offerings, we wanted to balance that by creating something completely unique in Saudi Arabia: a trip putting local women’s voices center stage,” continued Gray. “With activities like joining a cooking class with a local female chef and getting pampered at a women-owned salon, the trip will give our travelers the chance to see a side of Saudi few get to experience.”

The 12-day Saudi Arabia Women’s Expedition begins at $6,695 and offers five departures beginning November 26, 2024. Highlights include visits to Madinah, Hegra, Jeddah, a private female-only beach visit along the Red Sea, a tour through a local women-owned citrus farm and a relaxing experience at a women-only salon.

“On my own visit, I met many women who were embracing the changes in their society,” said Zina Bencheikh, managing director EMEA for Intrepid Travel. “They were excited to begin their careers in travel and welcome people to their country.  By launching our Women’s Expedition, we hope to create opportunities for those women to push boundaries and drive meaningful change, for themselves and future generations.”

The tour operator also recently began expanding its young adult tour offerings, available for travelers aged 18-35. New tours include destinations like Morocco, Iceland and South Korea.
