Everybody’s thinking about the year ahead in January, and for many of us that includes planning our trips away for the upcoming months, with some destinations soaring in popularity.
Handily, British Airways’ Travel Trends Report 2025 is here to tell us which ones are ‘rising stars’, and have therefore seen the biggest increase in searches in January 2025.

The first of these is Agadir, one of Morocco’s major cities, which saw a whopping 308 percent increase in searches for holiday packages on ba.com. It’s nestled on the shore of the Atlantic ocean and is a popular spot for winter beach getaways, which is probably why interest in January was so high.
Abu Dhabi (one of our picks for the best cities in the world) claims second place, with an increase in searches of 94 percent, and Crete comes in third, with a 44 percent increase, likely because it’s one of the warmest parts of Greece at this time of year.
