A tour operator specialising in group travel for hen and stag weekends has ceased trading.
Groupia, which also offered golf and school trips, went into administration on June 16. It traded under brands including Groupia Golf, GoHen, StagWeb, Groupia School Trips and Company Away Days, and predominantly sold direct to consumers rather than via travel agents.
Nigel Fox and Christopher Marsden, of S&W Partners LLP, have been appointed joint administrators.
In a statement on its website, the Bath-based operator said: “The company has now ceased taking new bookings and arrangements are in place with Abtot to support customers with existing bookings.”
Bookings for trips on or before August 31, 2026, are expected to go ahead and clients are urged to continue to use the company’s existing VIP booking system to manage their booking.
Bookings from September 1, 2026, onwards have been cancelled and are subject to a refund claim.
Customers who paid any amount of the booking by credit or debit card have been told to seek a refund from their card issuer, while those who paid by any other method will need to submit a claim to Abtot, care of claims provider Gallagher Bassett.
A statement on Abtot’s website said it aims to complete all claim payments as soon as possible and has taken on extra staff to cover the administrative work.
Its website details the claim requirements.
Abtot’s bond does not cover flights for holidays, day trips and activities without overnight accommodation, travel insurance costs and gift vouchers.
For these bookings, customers must contact the administrators, S&W Partners LLP.
