At the moment, a private estate in the Scottish Highlands is looking to recruit a chef to support the owner. The unique job will see the successful applicant create high-quality and family-style dishes made using seasonal produce and ingredients from the estate.

The role will involve around three or four days of work that will be undertaken once every four weeks on average, depending on owner family visits and events. Although the role is part-time, there is the possibility of a retainer fee to secure consistency of service long-term.

Among the key responsibilities of the job will be preparing and serving fresh and well-presented meals for the owner family, including small groups and larger gatherings. One of the most unique parts of the job is that the successful applicant will travel to Denmark between four and six times each year to work alongside the estate’s lead chef. Additionally, the chef must check existing food stocks ahead of visits and carry out pre-visit shopping and sourcing, including specialist vegan products.

In order to apply for the position, you should have proven experience as a cook or chef, preferably in an estate or small-scale hospitality setting. The chef must be confident catering for vegan and gluten-free diets, and must also have a tidy and methodical approach to cooking.

Other attributes applicants must posses are the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working independently. They must also be able and willing to travel both internationally and within Scotland, enjoy working with fresh and seasonal ingredients, and have a calm and professional manner.
