The third season of White Lotus has only just begun—but the series, set in Koh Samui this season, has already had a major impact on tourism in Thailand.
Data show that tourism in Thailand as a whole is anticipated to increase by over 20% thanks to the “White Lotus Effect” with an 88% increase in internet searches for Koh Samui. The island has already seen a 44% rise in hotel reservations—and the Tourism Council of Thailand has stated that the island likely won’t experience a low season this year thanks to the buzz created by the HBO show.
