Rabat – Morocco’s historic city of Fez has earned a spot among the top ten must-see destinations for 2026, according to the travel magazine Travel and Tour World.
The ranking highlights Fez’s growing appeal as a cultural and historical hub, alongside global destinations such as Hong Kong, Brussels, and Guadalajara.
“Fès is experiencing a renaissance in 2026, with ambitious restoration projects breathing new life into its ancient medina,” according to the magazine.
The report hailed Fez for its ongoing restoration projects that are reviving its centuries-old medina, one of the world’s largest and best-preserved medieval cities.
Known for its ancient architecture, traditional crafts, and vibrant souks, the magazine described the city as “a living museum where history meets modernity.” The city’s renaissance is attracting travelers eager to experience Morocco’s deep-rooted traditions blended with new cultural and artistic energy.
Tourism in Morocco has recently witnessed a steady rise, with visitors drawn to its diverse landscapes — from the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert — and its rich cultural heritage.
The Moroccan government has also been investing in sustainable tourism projects and infrastructure upgrades, particularly in heritage cities like Fez and Marrakech to enhance travelers’ experiences while preserving authenticity.
Beyond Fez, Travel and Tour World’s 2026 list includes nine other destinations that promise unforgettable experiences. These include Arusha, Tanzania, in first place, known for its luxurious new forest camps offering immersive safari adventures.
East Coast, Barbados takes second place for its beaches and peaceful island charm, with Brussels, Belgium, and Chiriquí Province, Panama, in third and fourth place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley, Utah, is ranked fifth for its refined winter experience with expanded ski terrain and cultural events.
Gabon follows Fez in seventh spot for its pristine rainforests and raw natural beauty, with Upper Carniola, Slovenia, and Guadalajara, Mexico, ranking eighth and ninth. Hong Kong, China, wraps up the top 10.
The magazine notes that these destinations reflect the future of travel in 2026, as they combine culture, sustainability, and authentic local experiences.
