Wendy Wu Tours has hired former easyJet holidays trade distribution manager John Docherty as business development manager (BDM) for Scotland, with Trailfinders’ Demi Johnson joining as BDM for the north.

The appointments, forming part of the company’s “most significant trade investment” in its history, come after a 35% year-on-year rise in sales in Scotland and the north.

Gary King, head of trade sales at Wendy Wu Tours, said: “Demand across the north and Scotland is exploding, and these new roles are designed to match that momentum step for step – with more visits, more training, more events and more time spent with agents than ever before.”

Docherty, whose career has included trade roles at Princess Cruises and G Touring, in addition to easyJet holidays, has identified “vast opportunity to deepen brand presence across Scotland’s high street, independent and homeworker networks”, Wendy Wu Tours said.

Docherty added: “Wendy Wu is a brand I’ve admired for a long time, so the opportunity to grow the business in Scotland was incredibly appealing. With the product range expanding into new destinations, the potential here is huge.”

“My priority is to make sure every agent in Scotland knows they have a dedicated BDM at the end of a phone or email.

“I aim to meet all of them within my first few months to understand what support they need and how I can help grow their knowledge, confidence and sales with Wendy Wu.”

Johnson’s six-and-a-half years at Trailfinders included her most recent position as sales team leader and trainer.

“Coming from a retail background, I understand what agents need from a BDM – and the challenges they face,” she said.

“My training experience will be key in educating and supporting agents, so they feel fully confident recommending Wendy Wu Tours to their customers.”

King said: “This is the most significant regional trade investment in our history.”

He added: “Demi and John bring energy, experience and exceptional frontline understanding.

“They are exactly the kind of people agents want representing a touring specialist – knowledgeable, passionate and commercially focused.

“Their appointments are a game-changer for 2026, putting even more power directly into the hands of agents.”
