Travel lovers have been left in awe by the incredible views of one Wonder of the World from this affordable Airbnb.
We all have different things we want to do on our bucket list. Often, people make travel goals like doing Route 66 in America, visiting all the continents in the world, to seeing the Seven Wonders of the World in their lifetime.
Most Wonders of the World are far from the UK – including Petra in Jordan, Chichén Itzá in Mexico, Machu Picchu in Peru, The Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal in India and the Christ the Redeemer in Brazil. This means getting there and planning a trip around the country can be an expensive affair that many have to wait years to save up for.
Luckily, we have one of the Wonders of the World in Europe – the Colosseum in Rome. The average flight from the UK to Rome is just over two and a half hours, and there are often good deals which make it affordable to see the incredible sites the historic city has to offer.
While accommodation is typically pricey in a big city, one recent traveller to Italy insists that you can find cheap Airbnb rooms right outside the Colosseum.
On Instagram, @_art3m15 said: “POV: you paid £60 a night and got a room right next to the Colosseum with a private rooftop. A nice view to wake up to.”
The balcony, where there is a romantic table and chair set for guests to enjoy, looks like a scene straight out of a rom com. The traveller said they typed in ‘cosy room in front of Colosseum’ and were able to find the perfect accommodation. The small yet charming double bedroom, which a private attached bathroom, is perfect for a romantic Roman retreat.
Hosted by Marco Valerio, the Airbnb has been described as: “A historic building steps from the Colosseum, the rustic-shabby chic design creates a cosy vibe. Enjoy the bathroom within the room and access to a shared kitchenette for snacks, coffee, and tea.
“For an unforgettable experience, step out onto the terrace and take in the view of the Colosseum while sipping a glass of wine. Major landmarks are within walking distance, with the metro and buses nearby to explore all the best of Rome.”
It has free on-street parking, a TV, air conditioning, hair dryer, Wifi, and of course the city skyline view.
While @_artm315 managed to bag the room for £60 a night, the price appears to have gone up to £104 a night due to popular demand. There is an offer on Airbnb for a five night holiday at the accommodation for £519.
One individual commented on the post, said: “Absolutely worth it i would still book it even if I lived in Rome.” “Jealous is an understatement,” added another.
Another commented and said: “As an Italian, WOW! That was so worth it! That’s actually very affordable and cheap (for me) since I’ve been to pricier hotels in big cities making my wallet cry.”
One traveller who has also stopped at the spot, said: “I stayed here and it was wonderful!! Set up a little picnic for the sunset. So blessed.”
Another guest left a review on Airbnb and said: “The accommodation was absolutely everything it promised. Our host was superbly organized, and checking in and everything else was easy. The location is, of course, amazing!
You just have to be careful not to fall into the tourist trap. I highly recommend it!”
The Airbnb has some availability throughout April, but is booked up for three weeks in May. There is plenty of availability in the summer months and throughout the rest of the year.
