A UK travel company has collapsed into liquidation after running for 55 years.

Ickenham Travel Group ceased trading as an Atol holder on November 20, the Civil Aviation Authority announced.

On the CAA’s Atol failures page, it said the company – which is based in London – traded under the names Abu Dhabi Holidays, Ras Al Khaimah Holidays and Letsgo2.

It also functioned under the websites www.ickenhamtravel.co.uk, www.letsgo2.com, www.rasalkhaimahholidays.com, www.abudhabiholidays.co.uk,  www.jaresortholidays.com, www.justallinclusive.com and www.ickenhamtravel.com.

If you are currently overseas and you hold a scheduled flight e-ticket under an Atol-protected booking with the company, the flight will remains valid for the return journey.

The CAA has advised you check in with the airline as per the details for the existing flight ticket.

It confirmed it is speaking to overseas service providers to ensure the services booked still operate as planned.

The CAA said: ‘If you are made to pay again for the services that were part of your original trip, please ensure that you retain a clear receipt showing, the method of payment as this is required for any claim you submit.

‘If you pay in cash, you must obtain a cash receipt as you cannot make a claim without this.’

It went on to say: ‘If you have an Atol flight inclusive package booking and have been issued with flight tickets, the flights may be valid for travel and passengers are advised to check with the airline.

‘If the airline confirms you have a valid ticket for travel, you have two options.’

The first option is to claim for a refund.

The alternative second choice is if you decide to use your original flights and book replacement arrangements (such as accommodation or transfers).

In this circumstance, you can claim for the cost of those replacement elements.

If your Atol-protected booking was cancelled prior to Ickenham Travel Group Ltd ceasing to trade as an Atol holder and you are awaiting a refund, you may submit a claim.

The Ickenham Travel Group was founded in 1970 by chief executive Peter Reglar.

It started as a single shop on Ickenham High Street in Greater London.

The company grew steadily, and had branches in Hillingdon, Northwood, Harrow and Rickmansworth.

The CAA website warns: ‘Bookings sold as accommodation only or Non-flight Packages which do not include a flight element are not covered by the Atol scheme and consumers should contact the company’s administrators when they are appointed.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Ickenham Travel Group for comment.
