Guys, something fun is coming to the Cooney Studio this summer.

I know when you’re little, the world can seem like an impossibly big place. There’s so much out there to do and see. How do you even get an idea of what you could learn?

Well, this year, the Summer Art Camps at the Cooney Studios here in Sedalia are going to be focusing on traditions and styles from all around the world. Let’s take a quick look at what’s on offer.

The first one coming is for the littles. It’ll be held from June 3 -7, 1-4 pm. It’s for Kindergarteners through the 2nd Grade. Jordan Fields will be leading this week’s campers through several countries with Mexico and Australia being the main focus. Several art mediums will be explored including the new paint markers.

Next, will be Grades 3-5. Their camp is that soon after, with a start on June 10th.
Diane Burnett will be leading campers through activities from multiple countries with a focus on African countries and France. Different art mediums will be explored including liquid watercolors.

And don’t think the tweens aren’t going to get a turn. Their camp starts June 17th. Kelly Chapin-Hagen will be guiding campers through various countries while focusing on Japan and Anime drawing. Different art mediums will be used including the popular Prismacolor pencils.

They’ll also have a mini camp for preschoolers (since little guys can’t be expected to sit still for three hours) that only runs about an hour a day. You gotta go with your kid, but it’ll be fun for you both (OR I guess it could be a fun outing for an Uncle, Aunt, Big Brother or Sister or Grandparent… it just says kids need to be accompanied by an adult)! Mini art camp for preschool campers ages 4 & 5. A different art medium will be explored each day. It only costs $45, and it includes all art materials, snack and t-shirt. It’s only five days instead of two weeks and it’s limited to 12 students. So you might wanna get on that ASAP.

The other camps are daily for two weeks, and is from 1-4 every day. It costs $90, but that includes all art materials, a travel journal, a daily snack, and the t-shirt.

And if you are working during that time, the instructs were also hold an art showcase every week on Friday at 3. So you can stop by, and have a look while enjoying an international snack with your kid.

Now, the thing is, you gotta register soon, because the regular camps only have room for 18 kids. So once the spots are filled up, that’s it. So call them at the Liberty Center office, 660-827-3228, you can pop by and sign up at 111 West 5th, or you can register online at libertycentersedalia.com.

Get artsy, ya’ll!

Worldly yours,
Behka
