The World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) 2025 Global Summit will be held in Rome, Italy, next year.

The event is one of the largest travel industry events in the world. The news comes following the conclusion of this year’s Global Summit, which was held in Perth, Western Australia and featured speakers such as conservationist Robert Irwin and John Kerry, the 68th Secretary of State of the United States.

The new Global Summit in Rome will be the first time in six years the summit has been hosted in Europe. The last time was in 2019, when 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was one of the major speakers. It’s likely the summit will highlight Rome’s connection to the past and it’s current popularity as a major destination.

“The success of our 2024 Global Summit is a testament to the enduring appeal and innovation within the Travel & Tourism sector,” said WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson. “I want to extend my thanks to the team at Tourism Western Australia for all their work in making this Summit a reality. History shows that all roads lead to Rome, and in 2025 that’s certainly true as we head to a global city steeped in history, yet vibrantly forward-looking.”

The last Global Summit shared important information on the industry. According to new data, the travel and tourism industry’s greenhouse gas emissions intensity dropped 8 percent, though the industry continued growing, showing how the industry is growing greener.

The 2025 Global Summit will take place in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism of Italy.
