Responsible tour operator Intrepid Travel has released a new handbook encouraging travel advisors to sell sustainable travel, called “How to be a champion of change: An agent’s guide to understanding sustainable travel.”

The 12-page guide contains facts, product case studies, definitions and ideas to help advisors begin the conversation about sustainability with their clients. The free guide can be downloaded on Intrepid’s Agent Hub

“We created this handbook after hearing from travel agents that there’s a lack of resources available that break down what sustainable travel actually is and to empower them to then explain this to their customers,” says Dr. Susanne Etti, Intrepid’s Global Environmental Impact Manager, who authored the handbook.

“Agents truly have the power to influence their clients’ choices and we want to help them be the best that they can be and to make a difference,” Etti continued.

The certified B Corp offers a collection of open-source sustainability guides, including a guide to develop carbon labels and calculate trip emissions. It’s also releasing its first book, The Intrepid List, this October.

In August, Intrepid announced the creation of its Chief Impact Officer role, hiring Payton Iheme to fill the role. Iheme was a senior member of President Obama’s administration and will also spearhead the Intrepid Foundation.
