The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) recently showcased Greece’s adventure tourism offerings to UK tour operators and travel agents at the ATAS (Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers) Leaders’ Dinner 2024 in London.
Greece made its inaugural appearance at the annual dinner, organized by ATAS, which brings together top suppliers in the touring and adventure travel industry with the shared goal of elevating the sector’s visibility and assisting travel agents in enhancing their expertise and increasing sales.
To introduce Greece’s adventure tourism offerings to the British tourism market, the GNTO treated participants to authentic Greek cuisine, providing them with an immersive gastronomy experience.
During the event, the director of GNTO’s UK and Ireland branch, Eleni Skarvelis, gave an interview to the editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly magazine, Lucy Huxley, presenting Greece’s outdoor activities.
Among them were rafting at the Voidomatis River in Epirus, hiking at Meteora in Thessaly or Mount Mainalo in the Peloponnese, and coasteering in the rocky coastline of Kefalonia.
The ATAS Leaders’ Dinner drew a crowd of 50 UK tour operators, including Trailfinders, Advantage Travel Partnership, Audley Travel, Barrhead Travel, Cosmos & Globus, G Touring, Intrepid, Newmarket Holidays, and Jules Verne, as well as major travel agencies such as Not Just Travel, Travel Club Elite, Intele Travel, and Designer Travel.
During the dinner, GNTO officials held B2B meetings with representatives from the British adventure tourism market, aiming to expand the offerings of Greek destinations during spring and autumn, highlighting the growing interest in Greece.
Last year, the GNTO also participated in the ATAS B2B workshop in Liverpool, with the aim of attracting British travelers seeking adventure tourism experiences.
