Small-ship expedition operator Adventure Canada has unveiled a new itinerary for 2025. The new expedition, “Baffin Island and Greenland: Circling the Midnight Sun” invites travelers to experience the Arctic during the days of 24-hour sunlight.

On this expedition, guests will travel alongside Inuit guides and cultural interpreters in search for Arctic wildlife, including polar bears, whales and seabirds as they prepare for a long winter ahead. Travelers will also visit the arts and culture community of Pangnirtung, where Inuit artists are particularly noted for creating woven tapestries and prints, explore the Cumberland Peninsula and take in the otherworldly landscapes of Southeast Baffin Island.

From Iqaluit, the expedition will sail through varied landscapes such as Umiannguaq (Monumental) and Kitigtung (Lady Franklin) Islands, Baffin Island, the Cumberland Peninsula and across the Davis Strait to Greenland and the Sisimiut Coast. Along the way, keep an eye out for polar bear, walrus, eiders, caribou, seal and musk-ox. In Greenland, guests will visit Ilulissat, the most productive glacier in the Northern hemisphere, which calves icebergs into the Ilulissat Icefjord.

Then, the ship will travel to Pangnirtung, “Pang” for short, a picturesque hamlet nestled deep within Cumberland Sound at the mouth of Pangnirtung Fjord. It is the southern gateway to Auyuittuq National Park and a hot spot for Inuit art and craft. The town is renowned for its vibrant arts scene, especially for its tapestry studio and print shop, where local artists are gaining international recognition through their works that depict traditional and modern Inuit stories and landscapes.

The departure for “Baffin Island and Greenland: Circling the Midnight Sun” is scheduled for August 5-16, 2025.
