Switzerland is one of the world’s most expensive places to live in but this town sets new heights.
The place dubbed “a billionaire’s playground” is home to hotels that costs up to a whopping £50,000 a night. Where is it? It is Gstaad a ski resort, in the south western area of the country.
Ben Morris, a video creator, shared his 24 hour experience at the exclusive town to his 860,000 YouTube subscribers.
Making his way to Luton Airpot, Ben took a short flight to Geneva and he showed viewers the adverts for luxury watches that were plastered on the walls of the airport, commenting that “the signs of wealth” reached him as soon as he arrived.
For two nights Ben spent £249 on his rental apartment which offered a grand view of snow capped mountains and located a 15 minute drive away from Gstaad.
On the drive up, Ben passed a bentley car from Monaco, and points out “the famous Gstaad palace hotel”.
The town also reportedly has mansions worth as much as £78million.
The town features an office exclusively for private jets called Luna Jets, providing various services including concierge service, exclusive car rental, exclusive transportation, travel arrangements, property and chalet managment, temporary or permanent private staff and art handling.
Gstaad is famed for welcoming regular visits from the wealthy, some of which include Madonna, fashion designer Valentino Garavani and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
The town is also home to a number of designer labels including Hermes, Chopard, Prada, Cartier, Ralph Lauren and Louis Vuitton which is shown in the video.
However, its not only expensive fashion stores that visitors will find in the town. Gstaad also has a grocery store renowned for its high prices. Ben took a trip to the Pernet Food and Wine store where “two steps into the store” he was met with a fridge full of luxury champagnes.
Also for sale were frozen pizzas for costing a staggering £10, a box of Cheerios for £9, and asapargus for £10.
The store even had caviar on sale priced at £7,000 a kilogram.
Properties for sale in Gstaad are usually in the millions bracket and its no surprise when a vast number of its residents are millionaires and billionaires, including businessman Ernesto Bertarelli.
The town has been described as a place where billionaires “secretly live” and a “billionaires’ secret ski town.”
Gstaad was also home to a number of royals such as Prince Rainier, the Prince of Monaco, between 1923 and 2005.
