For just £75, you can return to one of Europe’s most beautiful beach locations.

The German island of Sylt is comparable to the Maldives, but you can get there at an affordable price compared to the South Asian island nation.

To get to the Maldives, you could pay up to £823 in March, whereas to visit Sylt, you’ll have a similar experience for over £700 cheaper.

If you’re wondering how to get to Sylt, you’ll first have to fly to Hamburg and then take a train to Sylt from the German city.

Flights from London to Hamburg are currently £60 (for a return) in March, and the train journey costs just £15 once you get there.

You won’t need to break the bank to visit this beautiful part of Europe and do not need to travel for as long to get there.

Europe is full of incredible beaches but during the peak summer months, it can be difficult to find somewhere that isn’t jam-packed with tourists.

The German island of Sylt is a firm rival for the likes of the Maldives or the Caribbean with its incredible five-star hotels, swanky restaurants and white sand beaches – only unlike those hotspots, it also offers plenty of budget-friendly options for Brits.

According to rankings by Lonely Planet, it’s also home to some of the world’s 100 most beautiful beaches making it a rival for the Maldives, reports The Mirror.

One of the top places to visit on the island is Ellenbogen, an incredible beach.

A visitor on Tripadvisor said: “A must-see for any traveller who likes the outdoors. We drove all the way to the most northern point of Germany. Sheep everywhere. Remoteness. Beautiful in every way.”

Another penned: “A beautiful landscape. We drove to various parking lots and explored the respective section from these points. It was very beautiful and we liked it a lot. The entrance fee by car is €‎6.”

Another must-visit place in the area is Uwe Dune, another site for nature lovers to visit.

One visitor said: “This place offers great views over the island and to the sea. Here, you see the quintessence of Sylt: sands and sea from one side and calm landscapes with dunes and cliffs from another. If you have time only for one sight – this must be this place!”
