When it comes to travelling it can be difficult to narrow down which destination to go to. The world is full of incredible places that are worth visiting. Thankfully, besides relying on your own bucket list, you can always have a look online for hidden gems dotted across the earth.
Not only that, but there are plenty of travel guides that will give rankings based on the experience of travellers and share some of the best places the world has to offer. TripAdvisor ranked the world “best of the best destinations” as part of their Traveller’s Choice Awards 2025 and it just so happens that Brits are fortunate enough to not have to travel too far to visit the world’s best destination. According to the travel company, the award “celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel.”
TripAdvisor uses the reviews of each destination analysed and those that receive a high-volume of “above-and-beyond” comments make it onto the list. “Out of our eight million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone,” the website notes.
London described as “many worlds in one” was crowned the best. The capital was praised for a number of things including choice of places to eat and drink and having various significant landmarks.
The website read: “From Shoreditch’s swaggering style to Camden’s punky vibe and chic Portobello Road, London is many worlds in one. The city’s energy means that no two days are the same.
“Explore royal and historic sites, tick off landmarks from your bucket list, eat and drink in exclusive Michelin-starred restaurants, enjoy a pint in a traditional pub, or get lost down winding cobbled streets and see what you stumble across – when it comes to London, the possibilities are endless.”
The travel company also recommends the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, all of which are rated 4.6 stars on TripAdvisor, as award-winning things to do in the capital.
When it comes to the “three perfect days in London” as well as some of the capital’s most famous sites, travellers are recommended to visit Notting Hill and hit the high streets and do a bit of shopping. Of course, a trip on a red double-decker bus is also something advised not to “miss out” on.
When it comes to a London trip, there is some much to explore and visitors are guaranteed a great time, even if it is on your doorstep.
