Strictly Come Dancing fans aren’t happy after the first Scotland show of the 2025 live tour was postponed thanks to dangerous weather brought on by Storm Eowyn.

Glasgow is bracing itself to face lethal winds and heavy rain as Eowyn makes landfall on Friday, with red warnings issued by the Met Office.

Because of the serious potential risk to life, Friday night’s show at the city’s 14,000 capacity OVO Hydro venue has been postponed to Sunday evening instead.

The unfortunate news was broken by the event’s organisers, but fans were disappointed that the announcement only came at 9.30pm on Thursday night.

A statement read: ‘Sadly, due to the red weather warning in place tomorrow, the Friday evening performance of Strictly Come Dancing: The Live Tour will be rescheduled to Sunday evening, 26 January.

‘Doors will open at 17:30 and the performance will start at 18:30. Original tickets remain valid for [the new show]. If guests are unable to attend [Sunday’s show] they should contact their point of purchase for a refund.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.’

On X, @ADSmyth77 complained that the decision ‘could have made been made five hours ago’ after weather warnings for Friday were first issued on Thursday morning.

Under the announcement on Facebook, Mwahreen Davidson said it was the ‘right decision to postpone’ but was irritated that it ‘took way too long to come’.

Similarly, Anthony Smyth said: ‘Red warning has been in place for hours. Should have made decision earlier.’

Some Strictly fans were concerned for the dancers themselves, who travelled up to Glasgow on the bus after Thursday’s show in Newcastle.

‘If they are able to travel up tonight then they need to let people know. I don’t see [Friday’s] show going ahead, but I do see Saturday and Sunday going ahead,’ said @Olivia270291.

Before the announcement, @DeKay1974 said: ‘There’s lots of folk who will be travelling for this and a red travel warning is serious. When will [the organisers] make comment about Friday’s show?’

Judges Craig, Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse are all on the road for the 30-date tour, alongside live arena host Janetta Manrara.

The celebrities taking part in the Strictly tour are Jamie Borthwick, Montell Douglas, Wynne Evans, Tasha Ghouri, JB Gill, Sarah Hadland, and Shayne Ward after they competed on the 2024 series.

Dancers Michelle Tsiakkas, Kai Widdrington, Katya Jones, Aljaž Škorjanec, Vito Coppola and Nancy Xu are some of the pros accompanying the stars on the dancefloor.

Dancing with JB are his two professional partners from the 2024 series – Amy Dowden and Lauren Oakley – who will be sharing ballroom duties with the former JLS singer.

Other professionals, including Dianne Buswell, Karen Hauer, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, and Jowita Przystal, will be dancing on selected nights.

The winner of the 2024 competition Chris McCausland is not on the tour, but he has started a brand new podcast with dance partner Dianne, which is named after their Strictly motto: Winning Isn’t Everything.

A statement announced their new project: ‘Want more of this nonsense? Chris and Dianne are going to be hooking up for a weekly publicly available catch up, otherwise known as a podcast.

‘First episode out [on January 24]. If you’ve got any questions for us, put them here and we will try to get around to answering some on the pod See you all on Thursday.’

After leaving Glasgow on Sunday night, the Strictly tour will head to Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, and Nottingham, before wrapping up in London at the O2 Arena between February 7 and February 9.
