The Blue Room
Five-year-old gelding by Order Of St George (sire) out of Saintly Lady (dam)
Owner: Bective Stud
Form figures: 241-1
Racing Post Rating 103 (bumper); 118 (hurdles)

Sean [Bowen] loves him and he ended his season well by winning at Ffos Las. His work has been good and he’s ready to start off in a two-mile novice hurdle [has since won on hurdling debut at Chepstow]. He could be really nice.

We’re starting all over again with him. We’re very happy with him at this moment and everything has been done – we’ve taken him to bits and put him back together. We’ve checked his eyes because we’ve had a look at those just as much as anything else. I don’t know what happened at the end of last season but we’ve started jumping again and we’ll be doing lots of it. I can’t teach him anything though, because he was the best. We tried to run him in Ireland, but that was my fault and we should never have gone. He’s in great order now and he’s had masses of inspections. There was internal surgery on an organ, but I don’t know if it was significant; we were just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. The plan is the same. We’ll be off to Newcastle for the Fighting Fifth and he’ll be ready. That would be followed by the Christmas Hurdle and then we can hope he can win the Champion Hurdle back. All I can say is that he’s in great order and he’ll be going off to do all sorts of things before the race.

It was just a small-field novice hurdle he won at Bangor, but he did it nicely. He’s a big horse and wouldn’t want drying ground, which is why he had only one run last term. We’ll probably start off over hurdles this season, but we won’t wait too long before we go chasing with him. He’s a nice prospect, especially when he goes chasing.

Burdett Road
5g Muhaarar – Diamond Bangle
The Gredley Family
2/1322-2
RPR 155h OR 150h

Last season over hurdles was a lot of fun and he made a nice comeback over jumps when second to Rubaud at Kempton on Sunday. He’s come out of it well and has already schooled well over a fence, so he may go chasing now. He’s got loads of options and we’re not ruling out races like the Fighting Fifth or the Elite Hurdle, but it could be that he goes for a novice chase at Cheltenham’s November meeting.

Grangeclare Park
4g Walk In The Park – Burkes Lady
Mrs L Rabson

We like this guy, especially Lisa [O’Neill, assistant]. He worked really nicely the other morning at Navan when we took him away and he’s showing us all the right signs at the moment. He was impressive when he won his point for Colin Bowe and he’ll start off in a bumper shortly.

4g Time Test – Matron Of Honour
Omar Jackson
21411-1
RPR 137h OR 143h

He really got things together over hurdles last winter and finished the season well when winning under top weight at Sandown on finals day. As expected, he was well handicapped back on the Flat, winning twice at Epsom over the summer and he might yet go for the November Handicap. He’s a big horse who was always going to do better with time, and his quality got him through when winning from the front at Cheltenham on Saturday. He’ll be better than that over hurdles, and there’s a Grade 3 for four-year-olds at Fairyhouse at the end of November to consider, although the Gerry Feilden at Newbury is more likely. Beyond that, what was the Betfair Hurdle in February is the sort of stiff test he wants and the County Hurdle might suit him at the end of the season. He’s a proper horse to run over hurdles.

Myretown
8g Dylan Thomas – Miss Platinum
Mrs C Wymer & PJS Russell
1/51F11-
RPR 145c OR 142c

He flew the flag for us last season by winning at Cheltenham. He’ll start off in the Coral Gold Cup, but he’ll have a couple of racecourse gallops before Newbury. He’s got to take another step forward, but he’s got the profile to do so. He couldn’t have been any more impressive in the Ultima, albeit off a mark that in a normal year wouldn’t have got him into the race. He’s got a long way to go and perhaps Grand Nationals are more realistic than Gold Cups, but he’s very lightly raced. With Corach Rambler, the Ultima was a good Grand National trial and that’s in the back of our minds.

Mr Mojo Risin
5g Pillar Coral – Hot On Her Heels
Mr & Mrs Wf Ainscough
4-
RPR 91b OR –

An enormously tall horse – 17 hands-plus – who ran in a Catterick bumper in December and looked like he was going to bolt up until the undulations found him out. There’s something really likeable about him – he’s a big, raw horse who jumps like a buck. He finds life quite simple so he’s really interesting.

RPR 122b OR –

He’s among our leading prospects for novice hurdles this winter. He surprised me when winning his bumper debut so smoothly; he looked a bit burly in the paddock beforehand and you could be forgiven for thinking he was in need of the run. Although only ninth in the Champion Bumper next time – a race we never seem to do very well in – he ran better than his finishing position suggests. He’s done masses of schooling but has been carrying plenty of condition and it’s taken time to get the weight off him. But we’re getting there now and he went nicely in a gallop with Caldwell Potter at Newbury last Monday. I don’t want to over-hype him but he might – and I stress the word ‘might’ – be in the Stage Star/Bravemansgame mould. They both made an immediate impact over hurdles, winning the Grade 1 Challow.

Welonlyhavedone
5g Diamond Boy – Graces Treasure
J Fyffe

RPR 124h

He’s a point-to-point winner and he’s had three runs for us, all at Galway. We thought he had a huge chance in the bumper there this summer but he was disappointing. We thought he was better than that and he won well on his hurdles debut afterwards and was running a big race last time before falling at the last. That looked a decent race and I thought the winner would be hard to beat going into it but our horse was in the process of running very well. It was a tough fall, but he’s been 100 per cent since and he’s one we’re looking forward to.

Wendigo
6g Great Pretender – Biche D’Oo
Rc Syndicate I
21215-2
RPR 134c OR 143c

He was a lovely horse for us last season. He was second in the Challow and then finished fifth in the Albert Bartlett. He was lucky not to be pulled down at the second-last that day, but he stayed on well and would have finished third without that interference. He looked the class horse on his chase debut at Worcester last month when he was second. He travelled well and it takes nothing away from the calibre of horse we think he is. We’ll probably go to the John Francome Novices’ Chase at Newbury next, and he could be decent over fences this season.

Starmount
5g Mount Nelson – Sparky May
Dineen, King, Stokes & Wicks
F1 (point-to-point form)

He’s a half-brother to Stage Star, shows plenty and has a very forward mind. He’s a great jumper and may be able to feature in some of the better novice hurdles.
