Available to download from today and for booking journeys from Monday, January 27, the service is seeking to offer a flexible, convenient, and tailored travel solution for both residents and visitors. The app gives users access to real-time travel information, including suggested routes using either the on-demand service or existing public transport, between 8am and 5.30 from Monday to Friday.

The new app allows users to plan and book trips based on their specific journey, and according to the council, ensures easier access to key destinations, including Madeley, Telford town centre as well as across the gorge.

Telford & Wrekin Council said the service has been designed to “improve mobility by offering flexible pick-up and drop-off locations, tailored to the individual”.

Alongside featuring traditional fixed bus stops, the app will also have virtual stops across a wider area that are shared with the user through the app and based on their location that can result in less walking distance and more convenient pick up and drop off points.

Cabinet Member for the Economy at Telford & Wrekin Council, Councillor Ollie Vickers said: “This is an exciting new development, the on demand app brings a level of flexibility that will significantly improve travel for residents and tourists alike.

“We’re keen to invite people along to help us test the app and make sure it works for everyone so if you would like to get involved, please get in touch, we’d love to have real feedback from a range of people.”

The council is also calling for volunteers to help create user guides for the app. People can register their interest by emailing ondemand@telford.gov.uk
