LIVERPOOL fans making the journey to Stamford Bridge for their match against Chelsea face nightmare train cancellations just hours before kick-off.

Storm Amy has caused damage to track infrastructure that has meant trains running from Liverpool Lime Street and Runcorn have been cancelled.

Fans with tickets from these stations may be forced to find alternative travel as far as Crewe, where the line is reportedly resuming service.

Other options would see fans flock to the still-running Liverpool Central station, causing overcrowding on the trains that have not been disrupted.

Fans are understandably frustrated at the situation, despite the outstanding circumstances.

Most of the UK is under a yellow warning for wind as a result of Storm Amy rolling across the country, producing winds of 45-55mph according to the Met Office.

This did not stop some fans from voicing their anger on social media, with one fan saying: “Merseyrail are a joke.”

Another fan echoed their sentiment but did not spare the rest of the country their ire either, saying: “Public transport in this country is a joke.”

Fans who do make it to Euston Station will face further travel struggles thanks to part closures on the District Line.

Chelsea issued a warning for travelling fans earlier in the week that the District Line would be closed this weekend west of Embankment station.

It is not a fixture fans will want to miss as Liverpool look to recover from two straight losses in the past week.
