The UK’s largest independent travel agent, Hays Travel, has expanded its retail network to almost 500 shops with this latest addition.

The new branch, located in the region’s largest outlet shopping destination, was officially opened on Friday, February 28, by owner and chair, Dame Irene Hays.

The former Subway unit has been transformed into a travel hub with six desks, a waiting area, and a foreign exchange bureau.

Dame Irene said: “All our new branches are special, but we are particularly excited about this one.

“Dalton Park is an increasingly popular destination for not only shopping but also leisure and eating out, with the cinema and choice of catering outlets for visitors.

“We have a great team in the branch, who are excited to be booking holidays and arranging travel money for their customers.

“It was a delight to officially open this new branch and wish them every success in what I am sure will be a thriving new branch.”

The Dalton Park team consists of assistant manager Kim Nielsen-Hill, three travel consultants, and a foreign exchange consultant, all led by branch manager David Musson, who has been with Hays Travel for 17 years.

The branch operates Monday to Friday from 10.15am to 6pm, Saturday from 9.45am to 6pm, and Sunday from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Hays Travel was voted the nation’s favourite for a second year, winning three gold awards at the British Travel Awards 2024: Best National Travel Retailer, Best Travel Agency for Cruise Holidays, and Best Retailer for Forex/Travel Money.

The first Hays Travel branch, which opened in Seaham in 1980, remains open on Church Street.
