Leominster’s heritage guides are set to reveal the market town’s rich history in a special year.
The team of guides, formed last year, is gearing up to offer twice-weekly history tours to mark Leominster Priory Church’s 900th anniversary.
The walk-and-talk tours will be available every Saturday and Wednesday until autumn, starting on April 2.
Organiser Hilary Currie said: “Our team of volunteers had a great first season in 2024 providing Saturday walks and feel it’s time to step up the offer by adding a mid-week option.

“We have welcomed visitors from afar as well as local people keen to learn more about their town’s history and are thrilled by the interest shown.”
Head guide Pete Blench added: “Leominster has an exceptionally long history of dramatic events such as the abduction of the abbess in the late Saxon era, occupation by a Welsh army and the town being set ablaze by a border baron in his dispute with King John.
“These days Leominster is keen to attract tourists – pilgrims still welcome!”
The 90-minute tours begin and end at Corn Square, Leominster, at 11am every Saturday and 2pm every Wednesday.
Tickets can be reserved at Leominster Information Centre, Corn Square.
This initiative coincides with Priory 900, a month of events and exhibitions at Leominster Priory Church, which will take place from June 14 to July 14, 2025.
