Former Azamara Cruises managing director David Duff has joined escorted tours specialist Travel Editions as it plans to work more closely with the trade.
Duff has become managing director of the tour operator, bringing almost three decades of specialist strategic and travel experience to the role.
His appointment comes as the operator plans the next stage of its development, including a fully redeveloped website and plans to increase sales of its specialist products through the trade such as its expert-led art and history tours and its Great British Heritage range.
Ian Finlay, chair of the Artisan Travel Group, which acquired Travel Editions in 2024, said: “The team has ambitious plans to expand what it offers, building on firm foundations to fulfil the business’s true potential. With David at the helm, Travel Editions looks all set to thrive for the long term.”
He added: “It’s the depth and variety of David’s experience that makes him such a great fit for the business, along with his committed approach to sustainable growth and development.”
Duff stepped down from his role as Azamara Cruises MD UK and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) in September last year after a 17 year tenure with the line, initially as commercial director.
He began his career in the late nineties as a product manager for First Choice and has worked in a number of strategically-focused roles, including head of commercial planning and analysis at Royal Caribbean International and more than three years as MD at Azamara, running commercial sales operations.
Duff said: “It’s a real privilege to be joining Travel Editions at this inspiring time in the company’s history, when the escorted tours market is not only bigger than ever, but continuing to grow at an impressive rate.
“With such an eclectic, appealing mix of products in the range – from sought-after solos holidays to award-winning private group getaways – it’s easy to be an enthusiastic supporter of the team and its wonderful work. My biggest thanks to everyone for welcoming me so warmly as MD.”
