Rail companies have warned customers that train services will remain impacted by the poor weather.
In an update this morning, Network Rail Scotland said work has continued overnight “to inspect and repair damage to the railway” following Storm Eowyn, describing it as an “ongoing” situation.
ScotRail meanwhile said last night that customers “should not expect any trains to operate before 12 noon at the earliest” on Sunday.
Northern’s routes in North West England were affected yesterday, but the operator has since announced that several of its services warned passengers are no longer affected.
Avanti West Coast says no trains are running between England and Scotland today, with its routes to/from Cumbria, Glasgow or Edinburgh all shut.
It advises customers not to attempt to travel on the route, and says there may also be “some delays and short notice changes” to services on other routes due to Storm Eowyn.
Weather warnings remain in place
There are still four weather warnings in place across the UK today (see 07.15am post).
One of those, in the north of Scotland, has been downgraded by the Met Office from an amber warning to a yellow warning.
