Audley Travel doubled its profits in 2024 compared with the previous year, according to the tour operator’s annual report, following bookings growth in a “strong market”.

The Oxfordshire-based company, which private equity firm 3i Group has reportedly been planning to sell, achieved a profit of £19.5 million in the year ending December 31, 2024, an increase of more than 135% on the £8.2 million profit recorded in 2023.

The directors said: “This has been a year of strong revenue and profit growth. The company significantly increased headcount in 2023 to provide capacity to meet the expected demand in 2024.

“An increase in bookings in 2024 reflected a strong market for travel, as well as our attractive and continually evolving product proposition.

“Growth in revenues was achieved while also improving margins from the prior year.”

The pre-tax profit was £22.2 million, up from more than £10.1 million in 2023, while revenue reached £277.8 million, against the previous year’s figure of £220.9 million.

The company is ranked 40th on the latest list of largest Atol holders, with a capacity to carry 44,687 passengers.
