The company said the tour has been designed around rail travel, with customers travelling through Scotland before continuing into Ireland.

The Scottish section includes journeys on the West Highland Line and the Jacobite steam train, alongside stops in Skye and Inverness.

The itinerary then moves to Ireland, where travellers will explore parts of the Wild Atlantic Way, including Inis Mhor, Ennis and the Burren.

The package includes accommodation, meals, rail travel, guided tours, excursions, transfers and the services of a McKinlay Kidd tour leader.

It also includes luggage transfer from Fort Augustus to the Skye hotel, allowing passengers to travel on the Jacobite without their cases.

McKinlay Kidd specialises in small-group and tailor-made holidays across the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands.

The new tour represents an expansion of the company’s existing offering, bringing together destinations across two of its key markets in a single itinerary.

The company says its accommodation and experiences are personally vetted by its team.

McKinlay Kidd was named AITO’s Tour Operator of the Year (Gold) in 2023 and Best Specialist Tour Operator in the 2023 Telegraph Travel Awards, with both awards based on customer reviews.

The company is now preparing to take bookings for the new Scotland and Ireland itinerary ahead of its 2027 departure.
