A UK travel company has gone into administration after 24 years of trading.
Groupia Ltd was a prominent group holiday agency specialising in everything from stag and hen weekends to golf trips.
The Bath-based firm — which also traded as Groupia Golf, GoHen, StagWeb, Groupia School Trips, and Company Away Day — launched in 2002, but announced that it had entered into administration on June 16.
During it’s more than two decades in the travel industry, Groupia Ltd served over 750,000 holidaymakers.
It sent travellers across the UK and Europe, including to popular hotspots like Barcelona, Prague, and Split, to name a few.

However, its collapse now means customers who have booked trips with the firm this year will face cancellations — be that events or holidays.
If you have a booking scheduled before August 31, you’re in luck, as these will go ahead.
On their website, Groupia Ltd stated that ABTOT (Association of Bonded Travel Organised Trust) has ‘arrangements in place’ for booking in this time frame.
ABTOT is a UK government-approved body that provides financial protection for package holidays. Much like ABTA and ATOL, it’s there to help when a travel company goes bust, as your money is safe.
Customers who booked before this deadline can manage their reservations using Groupia’s existing VIP booking system.
Sadly, this is not the case for people who have booked from September 1 onwards, as all holidays and events will be cancelled from then on.
Some customers will be entitled to a refund, though. ‘Your event will unfortunately be cancelled and is subject to a refund claim,’ the company has said.
How you claim your refund depends on how you paid. Groupia Ltd advises customers to visit their website for more information.
A notice on Groupia Ltd’s website states that Nigel Fox and Christopher Marsden of S&W Partners LLP have been appointed as Joint Administrators.
It explains that ‘the company has now ceased taking new bookings, and arrangements are in place with ABTOT to support customers with existing bookings.’
It is not currently clear if the company will be exploring options to find a buyer, or if Groupia will ultimately cease to exist entirely.
Alongside stags, hens, and putting greens, Groupia Ltd also catered to other types of travellers. It offered spa breaks, team tours, ski holidays and adventure trips.
While Groupia did not give reason for why they entered into adminstration, many UK firms are struggling.
With soaring jet fuel prices, delays, and an industry in flux, Groupia follows in the footsteps of companies such as Regen Central Ltd and Gold Crest Holidays which have also been forced to close.
