While most Scottish distilleries distil their spirit twice, Auchentoshan runs it through the stills three times.
This results in an incredibly pure new-make spirit, lighter in style but deeply complex, with notes of citrus, soft vanilla, and tropical fruits. Whisky lovers often describe Auchentoshan as the perfect gateway into single malts: refined enough for connoisseurs, but smooth enough for novices.

The distillery’s history is deeply tied to Glasgow’s heritage. Founded in 1823, it has lived through world wars, economic shifts, and the ebb and flow of the industry.
During the Clydebank Blitz in 1941, the site was hit and temporarily shut down, but true to Glaswegian resilience, production bounced back stronger than ever. Today, Auchentoshan remains committed to its craft, ensuring every drop of spirit is triple distilled.

At the Open Day, we will delve deeper into the history of what makes this distillery so special, allowing guests to experience each area of production firsthand.
- Free Tours: For those looking to see behind the scenes, free tours will be on offer throughout the day. While booking is optional, it is highly recommended due to limited availability—especially for those keen to see the still house up close and learn about the unique triple-distillation process.
- Festive Atmosphere: Visitors who prefer not to tour are welcome to browse the shop, enjoy live music, and relax with refreshments in our bar. A dram of our single malt is the perfect winter warmer, and our lounge suite offers a cozy spot to escape the festive rush.
- Christmas Gifting: The Visitor Centre team will be on hand to offer recommendations on their favourite whiskies—ideal for Christmas gifts. We will have a great selection of exclusive bottles, hampers, and stocking stuffers available.

For the ultimate whisky enthusiast, we are offering an exclusive “Old and Rare” tasting. This experience offers guests a chance to sample some of the finest Auchentoshan whisky, hand-selected by our master blender.
Over the course of 90 minutes, we will highlight the processes that give our distillery its unique character and how we shape that character during maturation.
The experience includes four drams: a minimum of three will be distillery exclusives, and at least two will be cask strength. As the discussion unfolds, you will be invited to analyse the whisky using your senses of smell, taste, and sight.

Most importantly, every visitor on the day will be helping raise funds for Erskine, a local charity that Auchentoshan works closely with.
Founded in 1916, Erskine originally cared for soldiers returning from the First World War. Today, their services have expanded to include modern care homes, transitional support for veterans adjusting to civilian life, and community outreach to ensure no veteran feels isolated. For over 100 years, their work has been built on dignity, compassion, and the recognition that those who served deserve the highest quality of support in later life.
Fundraising plays a crucial role in helping Erskine continue this vital work. Donations from community events such as the Auchentoshan Open Day help provide a variety of services for veterans across Scotland. Auchentoshan’s decision to support Erskine reflects a shared commitment to our community.
