To celebrate World Tourism Day on September 27, the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation has announced a special one-day guided tour from Lucknow to sacred cities of Ayodhya and Naimisharanya. The initiative, aimed at promoting religious and cultural tourism, was revealed by UP tourism officials late on September 25.

The newly introduced package is designed to provide a blend of spiritual discovery and modern travel convenience for travellers. Emphasis has been placed on accessibility to ensure that visitors, particularly senior citizens, can participate in the tour. There are discount offers for elderly travellers, and an online booking system has been rolled out to simplify the registration process.

Each package includes lunch, refreshments, a souvenir, and the service of local guides who will narrate legendary stories of every sacred site. The experience will offer a devotional journey that will culturally enrich every devotee.

UP tourism officials noted that the tour will incorporate the theme of World Tourism Day, which promotes inclusive, sustainable, and accessible travel. By encouraging tourism to spiritual destinations, the initiative highlights the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh after the state held the grandeur Kumbh Mela recently.

Moreover, authorities said that Ayodhya is preparing for an unprecedented Diwali celebration on October 19, which promises to be the grandest yet. Organisers are set to break two world records simultaneously during this year’s festivities.

Over 2.6 million earthen lamps will be lit across the city, a feat to be achieved with the help of 35,000 volunteers from Avadh University. Additionally, 2,100 Vedic scholars will join Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in performing the Saryu Aarti, setting another record for the largest number of priests participating in the rituals at once.

According to PTI, Commissioner of Ayodhya Mandal Rajesh Kumar confirmed that preparations are almost complete for the mega Deepotsav event. “This year’s festival will be very special. Ayodhya Dham will be decorated with colourful lights. Lamps will also be lit on the ponds. The festival site is being beautifully prepared,” he said.

The city’s potters are playing a key role in the event, with the procurement process already initiated to source traditional clay lamps locally. The event will see Ayodhya transformed into a vision of the Treta Yuga, with extensive light displays, fireworks, and a grand cultural showcase.
