India has been ranked the number 1 solo travel destination this year, followed by Italy and Japan, according to a new report by private guided luxury travel service Kensington.
“From the vibrant streets of Jaipur to the tranquil backwaters of Kerala, India’s diversity ensures that every traveler finds something extraordinary,” said Anit Singh, Kensington’s destination expert for the Indian subcontinent.
India offers a unique blend of cultural depth, spiritual experiences, and renowned hospitality. It is also home to one of the modern-day Seven Wonders of the World—the Taj Mahal. The iconic marble mausoleum in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
Rounding out the top 10 solo travel destinations were Egypt, Thailand, Australia, Spain, Iceland, France, and New Zealand.
The report is based on insights from “affluent” travelers, drawing from Kensington’s 2024 data and two external surveys conducted in partnership with Opinium Research and Dig Insight.
