Hoi An, Vietnam

Aussies are flocking to Vietnam in droves, thanks to cheap airfares and an Aussie dollar that gives bang for your buck in this region. September is a good time to visit Hoi An (a mecca for fashionistas keen to have leather goods and clothes made to order).

September in Hoi An features warm and tropical weather, with temperatures typically ranging from 24°C to 31°C. Full disclosure: it’s the beginning of the rainy season, so while you can expect occasional showers, they are usually brief and intermittent, with rain often falling in the late afternoon or evening. The mornings and early afternoons are generally dry and sunny, making it a good time to explore the town and surrounding areas.

September is outside the peak tourist season, which means fewer crowds compared to the busy summer months and holiday periods.

Hoi An is famous for its Lantern Festival, which typically takes place on the 14th day of each lunar month. In September, this festival offers a vibrant display of colourful lanterns illuminating the Old Town, creating a magical atmosphere.
