These three New England destinations offer a wealth of cold-weather activities.

‘Tis the season for snow, and three of the nation’s top places for enjoying it are in New England, according to USA Today readers.
The publication released a list of the 10 best destinations in the U.S. for snow lovers on Wednesday, part of its 2025 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, and Caribou, Maine, ranked No. 4, North Conway, N.H., ranked No. 5, and Stowe, Vermont, ranked No. 7.
The destinations on the list offer “lots of winter activities, gorgeous snow globe landscapes, and, of course, plenty of snow!” according to USA Today.
Travelers in picturesque Caribou, Maine, which gets 118 inches of snow a year, can go snowshoeing, skiing, ice-skating, and more, the publication wrote.
North Conway has nearly 30 miles of trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing and 13 downhill and Nordic ski areas nearby, wrote USA Today. Last month, the publication named it the best ski town in America.
Finally, Stowe offers “top-notch” skiing, dog-sledding, cross-country skiing, and family fun, according to the publication.
The No. 1 destination for snow is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
For the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards lists, USA Today travel experts select 20 nominees in topics from food to lodging, destinations to things to do. Then, the publication asks readers to cast votes to determine the top 10.
